About Us

Glenetty was once a 35 acre gentlman's farm owned by a Manhattan businessman.  Where Guernsey cows and Suffolk sheep once roamed, now roam the dogs of Shady Oak Bullmastiffs. Glenetty is owned by Pam and Tim Kochuba and is located 60 miles northeast of New York City in Sandy Hook, Connecticut.

For over 38 years Shady Oak Bullmastiffs has produced some of the finest Bullmastiffs in the history of the breed and our pedigree has made a significant impact on the breeding programs of many top breeders.  Over the years many of our bitches have been selected as the foundation dams for aspiring fanciers interested in starting a line with a well-bred bitch.  These bitches have been instrumental in establishing some of the most respected and well established kennel names of today.

Through my involvement in Bullmastiffs for almost four decades, I am fortunate to have seen and have a first hand knowledge of the temperament and conformation of many generations of Bullmastiffs. This working knowledge has helped us tremendously in choosing the sires and dams who have not only been top winning show dogs, but more importantly, have consistently produced exceptional progeny.  A high quality bullmastiff with a tremendous show record does not necessarily have the added ability to produce quality progeny.  With this in mind, we carefully evaluate the PROGENY of a stud dog in addition to studying his pedigree, evaluating his conformation, health clearances, temperament, and show record. The same standards are adhered to in evaluating the breeding suitability of any of our young bitches that we may include in our breeding program.

In 1997, I placed a Bullmastiff named Annie with Robin and Don Dowding and their two young daughters, Caitlin and Nicole. Robin soon developed a passion for the breed and through the dogs we became close friends.

In 2000, we decided to co-breed Annie, who was a littersister to BISS Ch. Shady Oak Madison Silver Belle. Robin was hooked and plunged into learning every aspect of owning, showing, and breeding Bullmastiffs. She finished her first champion with four majors; the champion was Ch. Shady Oak Nellie of Glenetty, ROM. Robin piloted Nellie through many impressive wins until Nellie's retirement after winning Best Brood Bitch at the 2007 American Bullmastiff Association's National Specialty in Asheville, North Carolina.

Since the formation of our very successful partnership, we have co-bred several litters and finished close to ten champions. It has been both an honor and a privilege for me to have been awarded the opportunity to work with an individual with the level of stalwart dedication and enthusiasm that Robin has brought to Shady Oak Bullmastiffs.

We love visitors and encourage prospective owners to come to our home and spend time with our dogs to assure that a Bullmastiff is the right breed for their family.  We have made close and cherished friends with many of the families who have made one or more of our dogs part of their lives.  We have a life-long, unconditional responsibility for any dog produced and remain committed to that responsibility for the entire life of the dog.
